Fei is interested in creating utopian microcosms and parallel universes.

She says 'I like to bring a touch of surrealism to everyday life and create a dialogue between fiction and reality, to make collages that manufacture their own reality. It can be considered as an escape from our own reality'.

'The flamingo is one of my early works, in 2012. The snowy mountain, the stones, even the texture of the whole image suggest a rough environment through which the flamingo stands alone on top of the mountain with such a grace. It's like saying I'm pink, I'm alone, I'm on top of the mountain and everything is going to be alright.'
